Want to visit the main U.K. Shows? It is possible to do it in one day! First check availability of flights to Birmingham, you need to be on the red eye one that leaves at 6:30 a.m.! Returning you have a choice of a couple from 7:35 p.m. onwards. If you book early or on a Michael O'Leary Special Offer you can get return all in for approx. €60, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Stoneleigh Park, Home of the National (1st + 2nd December)

On arrival at Birmingham you take the five-minute shuttle, free, over to the Rail Station and buy a return to Coventry. This is a journey of less than 30 minutes.
Upon reaching Coventry you can pick up a taxi to take you to the Showgrounds at Stoneleigh, about ten minutes away, the cost is approx. £10. The noise of the Call Ducks can be heard from some distance away!
Make sure to get a card from the taxi driver so you can ring for a taxi for the return trip back to the Railway Station. The Supreme Champion of the Show is usually picked about 5 o'clock so obviously you don't want your flight too early home if you want to see that.

The Federation Show, Stafford (15th + 16th December)

Again on arrival at Birmingham airport make your way to the Rail Station and buy a return ticket for Stafford. Taxi once again to the Show Grounds, and card from the taxi driver so you can ring him!
Journey by rail to Stafford takes a little over an hour so you need to allow for this time on your return trip.

Catering is freely available at these shows and the stalls are great places to browse for gifts.

If you decide to make a weekend of it you can pick up B&B locally, Kenilworth is a lovely town for those visiting Stoneleigh. Stafford is another lovely place to visit.

Good Luck with the Ryanair flights!! Stoneleigh is usually held the first weekend of December and Stafford a fortnight later. You can of course if you are travelling in a group hire a car and travel in style! However the public transport system is pretty good.
